4" Beta Craw Creature Bait (pack of 8)

Beta craws are effective for bass because their design mimics natural crawfish, providing lifelike movement and action through their appendages, which triggers bass's natural feeding instincts. The appendages also create water displacement and vibration, especially when rigged on a vibrating jig or chatterbait. Additionally, many beta craws are designed to be buoyant, allowing their claws to stand up in a defensive posture on the bottom, enticing bass to bite.

There are several effective ways to rig a soft plastic Beta Craw, and the best method depends on the water conditions, cover, and desired presentation. Beta Craws are particularly effective as jig trailers due to their buoyancy, which makes their claws stand up in a defensive pose.

Jig Trailer

Mimics foraging or defensive crayfish due to Beta Craw's buoyancy and flapping claws.

  • Best for: Bottom or cover presentation.

  • How to rig:

    1. Push hook through Beta Craw's head, slide onto shank, secure against skirt.

  • Tips: Use a jig with a trailer keeper.

Texas Rig

Classic weedless setup for Beta Craw around all cover.

  • Best for: Heavy cover, snag-free.

  • How to rig:

    1. Slide bullet weight (peg or unpeg) onto line, tie on hook. Insert hook point into Beta Craw's nose, thread through, turn hook, skin-hook point.

Punch Rig

  • Texas rig for thick, matted vegetation.

  • Best for: Bass in heavy overhead vegetation.

  • How to rig:

    • Use heavy, pointed tungsten weight (1 oz+), peg tightly to hook. Rig Beta Craw on straight-shank hook.

Shaky Head

  • Finesse technique mimicking crawfish pecking, effective in deeper water/hard bottoms.

  • Best for: Clear water, deep presentations, lethargic bass.

  • How to rig:

    • Twist Beta Craw's head onto shaky head jig's spring keeper. Push hook through body, leaving point exposed for hooksets.

Ned Rig

Excellent finesse option using smaller Beta Craws.

  • Best for: Cold water, high-pressure fishing, subtle presentations.

  • How to rig:

    1. Insert Ned jighead hook into craw's nose, push flush to body.

Carolina Rig

Presents bait behind main weight, good for covering water and raising craw off bottom.

  • Best for: Offshore structure, points, ledges.

  • How to rig:

    1. Slide sinker, bead, swivel onto main line, tie leader (18-24 inches) to swivel. Rig Beta Craw on hook at leader's end.
